Under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble founder Vice-Chancellor Prof. Mool Chand Sharma, CUH Legal Aid Clinic and Mediation &Counselling Cell were inaugurated in the hands of Chief Guest Mr. Justice S.K. Mittal, Hon’ble Judge, High Court of Punjab and Haryana cum Executive
Chairman, Haryana State Legal Services Authority (HALSA). Mr. Justice N.K. Sanghi, Hon’ble Judge, High Court of Punjab and Haryana, was the Guest of Honour in the Inauguration ceremony held on 18th February, 2012. On this occasion District& Sessions Judge, Mahendergarh and Member Secretary, HALSAalso accompanied the Guests. The well-defined objectives of CUH Legal Aid Clinic are:
Devising various teaching modules and kinds of curriculum which can be used by schools, colleges and other institutions for becoming carrier of legal awareness.
Promoting legal research by conducting survey to collect data regarding socio- legal problems.
Assisting vulnerable segment of the society like senior citizens, children, women, workmen etc. for realizing their rights.
Assisting needy people in various kind of legal drafting.
Encouraging the concept of Alternative Dispute Resolution including mediation and conciliation for amicable settlement of disputes.
Building partnership & cooperation with various legal services authorities and institutions including NALSA, HALSA, National& State judicial Academies.

Inauguration of CUH Legal Aid Clinic
On the eve of inaugural ceremony of CUH Legal Aid Clinic, a Monograph “Legal Aid & Inclusive Judicial Process”was released in the hands of Mr. Justice S.K. Mittal, Hon’ble Judge, High Court of Punjab and Haryana. Different aspects of the Legal Aid have been discussed through the articles written by the faculty members inthis Monograph. The best thing about the Monograph was the foreword written by Prof. Mool Chand Sharma, Founder Vice- Chancellor, wherein the importance of the justice, consequences of denial of access to justice and the role of Legal Aid have been remarkably discussed.
A grand Exhibition on the theme of ‘Inclusive judicial Process” was displayed at the District Court Complex depicting various dimension of idea of access to justiceon 18th February, 2012 An Exhibition was also displayed in the newly constructed Activities Complex on the day of inauguration ceremony of Legal Aid Clinic and Women Empowerment Cell. Some forms which are being used in daily routine by public at large were compiled and displayed in the Exhibition, which were appreciated by the Hon’ble Chief Guest and other Dignitaries.
In order to collect the data related to the awareness amongst people regarding ‘Lok Adalat’ Questionnaires were prepared and made filled. It was an empirical research in order to know the reflections of parties to the disputes coming to the Lok Adalat.
Interviews of the parties to the disputes, Lawyers, Para-legal Volunteers, Judges etc. were conducted for their reflections by the Student Volunteers on the day of Mega Lok Adalat on 18th February, 2012.
Building Partnership
On October 17, 2012 CUH Legal Aid Clinic organized with Women Empowerment Cell a meeting on the theme ‘Building Partnership—Neighborhood Educational Institutions and Central University of Haryana’ for Realizing Woman’s Dignity, Rights and Voice through Education, wherein Principal of I.T.I. (Women wing), Narnaul, Principal of D.A.V. School, Narnaul, Principal of Govt. Senior Secondary School of Village Seka, District Mahendergarh, Principal of Govt. Senior Secondary School of Village Mandi, Principal of KendriyaVidyalaya, Narnaul, Principal of Mata Marriam Jan Seva School of Narnaul. Hon’ble Founder Vice Chancellor Prof. Mool Chand Sharma presided over the meeting. In that meeting various issues were deliberated and contemplated about the role of schools for the empowerment of children in all aspects of life particularly about legal empowerment. In the meeting, after hearing the experiences of various principals and the problems which are suffered by them in their daily routine, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor gave stress upon building a partnership amongst Schools, Colleges and University and also directed to add some events in the forthcoming 2nd. Annual Month Long Celebration of the Central University of Haryana pertaining to the legal empowerment of the students of schools,colleges and University.

CUH Legal Aid Clinic actively participated in the Orientation Programme organised by the University in the month of August and oriented the students about their basic Rights and Duties and the role of legal aid and CUH Legal Aid Clinic for legal empowerment.
CUH Legal Aid Clinic participated in ‘Journey for change’ an initiative taken under the leadership of Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Central university of Haryana as an ‘Outreach Programme’ of the University wherein University has travelled a journey from Narnaul to Delhi and empowered public at large. In this journey special importance was given to the ‘Value Education’ and CUH Group for Art, Culture and Heritage enacted various plays on the issues like:- Eve-teasing, Female Foeticide, alcoholism, domestic violence and other social problems in differentSchools, Colleges and Universities for the orientation of students, teachers and other stakeholders.
CUH Legal Aid Clinic from the date of its inauguration is open to the public at large for serving the cause of the society. Numbers of people have taken the benefit in form of legal assistance from the Clinic. Presently the CUH Legal Aid Clinic has been preparing a ‘Compendium’ to be circulated amongst the public at large.
Outreach Programmes of CUH Legal Aid Clinic (2013)
CUH Legal Aid Clinic under the aegis of Department of Law organized an “On Campus Aadhar Card Registration Camp” for the inhabitants of Jant-Pali Villages on dt. 30-10-2013. Agents of the UIDAI reached the University campus the early morning with their necessary equipment.
The scheduled program was initiated with a brief discussion about the importance of the AADHAR card wherein Sh. Pardeep Singh of Department of Law (coordinator, CUH Legal Aid Clinic) threw some words on important aspects of the AADHAR card facility clearing up some doubts about the provisions in relation to recent judgment of the honorable Supreme Court of India.
CUH Legal Aid Clinic volunteers very actively contributed with their sincere efforts in conducting this program. They received peoplenot only with a warm welcome but also helped those people in filling up of the AADHAR card registration form. By the end of the day nearly 150 people registered themselves for Aadhar Card in this camp. The day ended successfully with a promise to the people to conduct the camp again in order to get registered the left ones whose registration could not be met up due to lack of time; however the members of the clinic recorded their names and mobile numbers.
Legal Awareness Survey of 5 villages of District Mahendergarh carried out by Law students: Students of Department of Law conducted a Legal Literacy Survey of the 5 villages ( Gahda, Jant, Malda, Unchi Bandhor &Unhani,) of District Mahendergarh of Haryana by distributing questionnaires amongst inhabitants of these villages on 29-09-2013 & 30-09-2013. A number of 20 households were surveyed from each village as sample.
Legal Literacy Camp
CUH Legal Aid Clinic under the aegis of Department of Law organized a Legal Literacy Camp on the eve of ‘Legal Services Day’ at Govt. Sr. Sec. School of Village Pali of District Mahendegarh. The Camp was inaugurated in the hands of Maj. Gen. (Dr.) Ranjit Singh, AVSM, VSM, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, CUH. Mr. Justice S.K. Mittal, Hon’ble Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court, who was scheduled to be present as Chief Guest of the day, could not make it due to some unavoidable circumstances. Haryana Legal Services Authority deputed Adv. MadanLal Sharma, Co-ordinator of the Authority to grace the occasion of this outreach programme of the University.
Exhibition at the door step of villagers
Department of Law displayed an exhibition on the theme “Realization of Access to Justice for all” by exhibiting various Charts and flexes in the school premises during the Legal Literacy Camp.
Legal empowerment through Nukkad Natak “Aao Milkar Karein Nyaya Ke Swapan ko Sakar”
Students from various Department of Central University of Haryana enacted a very beautiful Nukud Natak on the very pertinent theme “AaoMilkarKareinNyayaKeSwapankoSakar” in the Legal Literacy Camp organized by the Department of Law on dt. 30-10-2013. Skit was witnessed by a gathering of more than thousands of students and villagers.
Department of Law with the collaboration of the Department of Political Science of the CUH celebrated the Constitution Day on dt. 26-11-2013. On this occasion Prof. Nirmala Joshi, JNU, New Delhi delivered a lecture on the relevance of Indian Constitution and International Affairs.
An open discussion session added flavour to the program in which students directly interacted with Prof. Nirmala Joshi through series of questions pertaining to Constitutional law of India and India’s international relationship.
Academic &Outreach Programmes of CUH Legal Aid Clinic (2014)
- Organised a Legal Literacy Camp on the eve of National Legal Services Day featuring an Exhibition on law for School-going students and a Nukkad Natak—Ek Kadam Nyaya ki Aur…depicting various socio-legal problems and their solution in the form of legal awareness at Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Village Pali, Mahendergarh on 7-11-2014
- Distributed amongst students study materials (Pamphlets) for their legal awareness.
- Fortified the outstanding students of Govt. School of village Pali, Mahendergarh, neighbourhood govt. School under the banner of CUH Legal Aid Clinic.
- Celebrated constitutional Day on 26/11/2014 by organising a special talk on social media and democracy.
- Celebrated Human Rights Day on 10/12/2014 by showing documentary on Malala Yousafzai speech in UN and other short Clippings to make people aware about human rights.
CUH Legal Aid Clinic (2015): On September 23rd 2015
- CUH Legal Aid Clinic and Deptt. Of law organised special lecture by Hon’ble Lokayukta Haryana, Mr. Justice Pritam Pal, on the “The Institution of Lokayukta: An Imperative for Good Governance”
- Also a beautiful exhibition on the theme “Towards Inclusive Justice” displayed by our student volunteers.
- Also students volunteers presents a beautiful skit “Susaashan aur Sugam Nyay Ki Aur” to make people aware about the right to free legal aid and various other rights
- Also Organised On – Campus Aadhar card Registration camp to help the CUH fraternity and nearby village people to get themselves register and correct their cards and helped people.
- On this very occasion the journey of CUH Legal Aid Clinic so far has also been releasd under the title “Aanals CUH Legal Aid Clinic 2015” through the benying hands of Hon’ble Lokayukta Haryana, Mr. Justice Pritam Pal, along with Venerated Vice- Chancellor CUH Prof. R.C. Kuhad , Worthy Registrar CUH and Dr. Pardeep Singh, Incharge Deptt. of Law.
